HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – University of North Florida softball plays its second Atlantic Sun Conference three-game road series this weekend when the Ospreys visit Northern Kentucky. The series is set to begin with a Noon doubleheader on Saturday and ends with a single game at Noon on Sunday at Frank Ignatius Grien Softball Field.
Â
It is the first time in two weeks in which the Ospreys return to the road and this weekend's trip begins a six-game road swing. UNF wrapped up a seven-game homestand on Wednesday against No. 10/11 Florida State. The Ospreys attempt to end a six-game losing skid that began with the second game of the Bowling Green doubleheader on Mar. 11. However, in UNF's last road game, Abby Tewey's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning lifted the Ospreys to a 1-0 win at Kennesaw State on Mar. 9.
Â
Northern Kentucky has dropped its last five games and still looks for its first Atlantic Sun win of the season. The Norse were swept in a Thursday doubleheader at Austin Peay, falling 5-1 in Game One and 13-0 in five innings in Game Two. Dee Dee Davis is hitting a team-best .311 with 19 hits and five home runs.
Â
Last year's three-game series in Jacksonville was the first time UNF and Northern Kentucky played each other. The Ospreys lead the all-time series 2-1. Two of last year's three games went into eight innings, including the series finale that Northern Kentucky won 4-3 on Apr. 21.
