JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida softball fell to No. 10/11 Florida State in both games of a Wednesday doubleheader at the UNF Softball Complex. The Ospreys lost the first game 11-1 in six innings and then dropped an 8-0 game in five innings.

In Game One, Florida State got out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Seminoles took advantage of an Osprey error to score their first run and then got the second on a groundout. Briana Hamilton drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single up the middle.

Florida State added two more runs in the second with Maddie O'Brien having an RBI double and Bailey Schinella hitting an RBI single.

After three-and-a-half scoreless innings, the Seminoles had a five-run top of the sixth to go up 11-0. O'Brien drove in three of those runs with a home run to left center. Another Osprey miscue resulted in Florida State's fourth run of the inning, while Ellie Cooper scored the Seminoles' final run on a Stephanie Hartness single.

The Ospreys avoided the shutout in the bottom of the sixth as Lexi Taylor got home on Abby Tewey's single down the left field line.

Kaylie Wallace pitched the first inning and was credited with the loss after allowed two hits and no earned runs. She struck out one batter.

Lacey Waldrop was credited with the win after pitching 4.0 innings, holding UNF to one hit and striking out seven.
Â
Both Danica Mandarano and Tewey registered hits for the Ospreys in Game One.

O'Brien, Schinella and Hamilton each had two hits for Florida State. O'Brien also had three runs and four RBI.

In Game Two, Florida State scored in each of the first four innings. An Osprey error in the first allowed Tiffani Brown to get home from second and put the Seminoles up 1-0.

Florida State pushed its lead to 4-0 with a three-run second inning, scoring one run on a groundout and then two more on a UNF error.

The Seminoles finished with two runs in both the third and fourth innings. Hamilton hit a RBI triple and Celeste Gomez had an RBI single in the third, while O'Brien drove in the game's last two runs with a two-run double up the middle in the fourth.

Kayla Goff was credited with the loss after giving up five earned runs off seven hits in 3.0 innings.

Jessica Burroughs had the win after limiting UNF to one hit and striking out five Ospreys.

Mariah Reynolds had the Ospreys' only hit of Game Two.

Hamilton was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI for Florida State.

UNF returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at Northern Kentucky. The series begins on Saturday with a doubleheader at Noon and concludes with a single game on Sunday at Noon.
