#SandVB Closes Play at Beach N Boards Fest With Split

COCOA BEACH, Fla. -- For the second straight day, the North Florida sand volleyball team earned split results in a pair of matches at the Ron Jon Beach N Boards Fest.
The Ospreys (5-3) opened Saturday's play with a tough 3-2 loss to Georgia State before claiming at 4-1 victory over Webber International in their last match of the event.
Against the Panthers, UNF claimed wins at their top two pairs with Dagnija Medina/Kim Hildreth sweeping GSU's Pickering/Wilson in straight sets (21-12, 21-17) at No. 1 and Anna Budinska/Cari Whitmire outlasted Olivova/Button for a 2-1 victory (21-12, 22-24, 17-15). Georgia State posted straight set wins at No. 3, 4, and 5 positions.
Medina/Hildreth and Budinska/Whitmire both went undefeated on Saturday after also posting wins against Webber. The Ospreys top duo edged WIU's Sowala/Rancourt in three sets (21-14, 18-21, 15-10), while Budinska/Whitmire swept past Eiken/Schat (25-23, 21-11).
UNF's Cameron McGuire/Tanner Garbutt played at No. 3 for the first time this season earning a hard fought 2-1 decision over Sandbeck/Eddy (21-17, 18-21, 15-11). At No. 5, Britt Claessens/Julie Trembley were reunited for the first time this season en route to a 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) shutout of WIU's Evoy/Taylor.
After opening the sand volleyball season playing in a pair tournaments, North Florida, the two-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference champion, now turns its attention to league play as UNF visits Stetson on Mar. 25.
