#WTEN Swoops Past Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La.— No. 68 University of North Florida women's tennis' Simona Weymar clinched the match in a two-set victory at the No. 1 singles position as the Ospreys downed Louisiana-Lafayette 4-0 on Monday afternoon.

"We played decent today and I am happy for Simona to get a solid win at No. 1 and clinch the match," said head coach Audra Cohen. "She's been working hard on stepping up in matches and she did today. Tomorrow, we will need to play better if we want to beat TCU at their place."

North Florida started off strong, only allowing three games in the completed doubles matches. At No. 2 doubles, Weymar and Esther Zuniga defeated Julie Cremers and Melissa Burckhartt 8-2. Marina Cunningham and Taylor Hollander picked up an 8-1 win over Juliette Clement and Alexandra Way at the
No. 3 spot.

In singles, Rebeca Pereira made quick work of Way with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles to put the Ospreys up 2-0. Hollander followed suit with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Juliette Clement at the No. 6 postion. Â Weymar grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Nelo Phiri at No. 1 singles to for the match-winning point.

The Ospreys face No. 70 TCU tomorrow at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center at 4 p.m. EST/ 3 p.m. CST. Â
