
#SB Defeats Dartmouth, Falls to FIU on Day Two of FIU Tournament

MIAMI, Fla. – University of North Florida softball split its games on the second day of the FIU Tournament, claiming a 5-0 win over Dartmouth and falling 5-1 to host FIU at the FIU Softball Stadium.

All of UNF runs against Dartmouth came in the final four innings. The Ospreys opened scoring in the top of the fourth with Kelly Wilson getting home on a Marissa Thomas sacrifice fly to right field. UNF capitalized on a Dartmouth error in the fifth with Rachel Engel crossing home plate to make it 2-0.

UNF went up 3-0 in the sixth when Katie Mandigo's hit to left field drove in Thomas. The final two runs of the game came on a two-out, two-run Thomas homer in the seventh.

Kaylie Wallace had the complete game shutout and the win after going all 7.0 innings. Wallace allowed three hits and struck out two.

Kristen Rumley had the loss after allowing four earned runs off nine hits in 7.0 innings. Rumley tallied four strikeouts.

Wilson was 3-for-4 from the plate with two runs and one RBI, while Thomas went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.

In Game Two, UNF got out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Lexi Taylor scored the Ospreys' only run on a passed ball.

However, FIU rallied with a five-run fifth inning. Two early Osprey errors ultimately resulted in Rebekah Sanchez scoring and tying the game at 1-1. The Panthers hit back-to-back bases loaded singles and went up 3-1. FIU added the final two runs with a two-out, bases loaded fielder's choice that brought home Shelby Graves and Bre Kaye.

Radke had the loss after 4.1 innings of work. She did not allow an earned run, but FIU scored three with Radke the pitcher of record. She also allowed five hits and struck out three.

Corinne Jenkins was credited with the win after pitching all 7.0 innings. Jenkins allowed one run and limited the Ospreys to four hits while fanning four batters.

Danica Mandarano, Wilson, Ashia Kerr and Taylor each registered a hit against FIU.
