Â
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A bases load walk in the top of the fourth was the difference as University of North Florida softball fell 1-0 to Ohio on Sunday afternoon during the final day of the Osprey Invitational at the UNF Softball Complex.
Â
"Kayla threw really well, Cortney did a nice job in relief and our defense played really well, but we couldn't get our bats going," said Marcie Hickey. "Kayla did a nice job at scattering Ohio's hits. Unfortunately, we weren't able to generate much in terms of offense."
Â
Adrienne Gebele scored the only run of the game when Alyssa Wolfe drew the bases loaded walk in the fourth to put Ohio up 1-0.
Â
UNF attempted to rally in both the sixth and seventh innings, getting a runner to second both times. However, the Ospreys were unable to advance their runners any further.
Â
Savannah Jo Dorsey was credited with the win, allowing no hits and striking out five in 7.0 innings. She did allow one walk.
Â
Kayla Goff was credited with the loss after allowing eight hits and striking out four in 6.1 innings of work. She did not allow any earned runs.
Â
UNF returns to action on Wednesday with a single game at Florida A&M. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m., from the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
