GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Looking to build on a team championship in their last outing, the North Florida men's golf team returns to the links this weekend in the SunTrust Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Ospreys posted their best finish of the year at the Sea Best Invitational sharing team honors with Liberty at 886. Sophomore Austin Padova led a quartet of UNF golfers in the Top 20 earning his first collegiate medalist title with an even par total of 216.
This year's Gator Invitational features a field of 14 teams including: UNF, Florida, Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Lamar, Liberty, Mercer, UAB, UCF and Vanderbilt.
"We are kooking forward to getting back on the course after the win last week," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "This course requires a great deal of patience. The field is very good and competitive and will be another test to see where we stand against some of the best in the Southeast."
Leading the UNF lineup at the Gator Invitational will be Padova, who will be joined by juniors MJ Maguire, Joey Petronio and Parker Jones along with sophomore Taylor Hancock.
The tournament begins Saturday with 36 holes of play followed by a final round of 18 holes on Sunday. Live scoring for the event is available online at: www.Golfstat.com.
Following this weekend's Gator Invitational, the Ospreys next event will be their annual home tournament, The Hayt, held at Sawgrass Country Club on Feb. 23-25.
