VERO BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 34-ranked North Florida men's golf team continues its busy fall tournament schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate hosted by McNeese State at Quail Valley Golf Course.
The Ospreys have posted back-to-back top five team finishes including a fifth-place showing in the prestigous Tavistock Collegiate Invitational last week. Seniors Joey Petronio (71.56 avg) Â and MJ Maguire (69.00 avg)Â have led the way for UNF during the fall earning Top 20 individual finishes and boasting under-par stroke averages.
"This will be the first time we have had to make a quick turnaround this season so that will provide us with a new challenge," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "This tournament will feature greens that are as good as we will see at any time this year. The guys are looking forward to that opportunity. This week will be a good test for our squad."
UNF will stick with its successful lineup with juniors Taylor Hancock (73.00 avg) and Austin Padova (73.56 avg) along with redshirt freshman Dillon Woods (74.50 avg) filling out the travel squad for the tournament.
The Quail Valley Intercollegiate has a 15-team field highlighted by six teams listed among the Top 100 in the latest Golfstat rankings. TCU tops the list of ranked squads at No. 30 followed by UNF, Tennessee (No. 83), Kentucky (No. 84), Michigan State (No. 87) and Connecticut (No. 88).
The two-day, 54-hole competition begins with 36 holes on Monday on the par 72, 7,460-yard layout at Quail Valley. North Florida will be paired with TCU and McNeese on holes 1-4 starting at 9 a.m.
