SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The North Florida basketball team concludes its Atlantic Sun Conference weekend road swing at USC Upstate on Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Hodge Center.
The Ospreys (11-10, 5-3 ASun) looks to rebound from a tough 99-93 loss at ETSU on Thursday that snapped a two-game win streak. In their last outing, the Spartans (10-10, 3-4 ASun) snapped a two-game skid of their own with a 79-69 victory over Jacksonville. USC Upstate was picked to finish third in the preseason A-Sun rankings.
Against ETSU, sophomore Beau Beech paced a quintet of Ospreys in double figures finishing with a career best 28 points including making eight three-pointers. Junior Jalen Nesbitt also scored a career best with 17 points while pulling down a team leading eight rebounds.
For the season, senior Travis Wallace leads UNF in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Freshman Dallas Moore ranks second on team in scoring at 12.3 ppg.
Reigning A-Sun Player of the Year, Torrey Craig leads the Spartans in scoring at 16.6 points per game followed by Ty Greene at 15.4 ppg. Upstate has rebounded from an 0-2 start in league play to claim three of their last five contests.
Saturday's game marks the 20th all-time meeting between UNF and USC Upstate with the Spartans owning an 11-8 advantage in the series. The Ospreys posted a 77-53 win in the pair's last match-up last season at UNF Arena. The UNF win ended a three-game win streak for Upstate in the series.
