#MGOLF Slips to 9th at Carpet Capital

ROCKY FACE, Ga. -- The North Florida men's golf team slipped to ninth-place Saturday following a second round 298 in the Carpet Capital Collegiate hosted by Georgia Tech at The Farm Country Club.
The Ospreys, who finished the opening round in fifth, own a two-day total of 593 but are just nine shots out of the Top Five. Junior MJ Maguire led the for UNF in round two, posting a one-over 73 to move into a tie for 23rd at 147.
Fellow junior Joey Petronio carded a second consecutive 74 to end the day tied for 33rd at 148. Sophomore Austin Padova (76) and junior Parker Jones (75) are both tied for 40th at 149, while redshirt freshman Osten Waite rounds out the North Florida lineup in a tie for 62nd at 155 following a round of 78.
Georgia Tech continues to sit atop the team standings at 569 (-7), holding a four stroke advantage on rival Georgia (573). North Carolina is third at 578 followed by Clemson (579), LSU and Texas (584), Auburn (586), South Carolina (591), UNF, MTSU (595), Kennesaw State and Wake Forest (596), Chattanooga and Tennessee (602).
Tournament action at the Carpet Capital concludes Sunday with a 18 holes of competition. Â The Ospreys, who will are paired with Auburn and South Carolina, will tee off from the first hole beginning at 8 a.m.
