TAMPA, Fla. -- The No. 19 North Florida men's golf team is in eighth place after rounds of 287-296 on Monday in day one play of the Gary Koch Invitational at Old Memorial Golf Club.
With a 36-hole total of 583, the Ospreys are just five strokes out of the top five teams. Senior Sean Dale was the squad's top performer firing rounds of 68-73=141 (-3).
"Today was a rough one for us," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "We made lots of small mistakes and had some really average ball striking. Tomorrow we are going to need to bounce back and play much better."
Sophomore Joey Petronio joined Dale among the individual Top 25 finishing the day tied for 25th at 145 (71-74). Senior Kevin Phelan is tied for 51st at 150 after improving four strokes from round one (77) to round two (73).
Freshman Taylor Hancock is tied for 55th at 151 (75-76) and fellow freshman Austin Padova is tied for 58th at 152 (73-79) to round out the Osprey lineup.
No. 18 Florida State (555) leads the team competition by one shot over No. 8 Georgia Tech (556).
