JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's basketball hits the hardwood at UNF Arena one last time this season when the Ospreys welcome ETSU for a Monday night game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game is being sponsored by Vystar.
"Tomorrow is our final game on our home court this season," said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. "We have to take advantage of being in an atmosphere that we are familiar to. Our last three games with ETSU have all been very close. We know they are hungry for a road win."
Home finales have favored the Ospreys throughout the program's previous 20 years. UNF is an all-time 14-6 and has won 11 of its last 12 home finales.
The Ospreys attempt to bounce back from a 61-57 setback suffered on Saturday to USC Upstate as well as end a five-game losing skid. The month of February has not be kind to UNF, who are 1-5 this month and has not won since a 56-52 win over Stetson on Feb. 2.
Monday night is ETSU's final road game of the regular season. The Bucs are back at home for their last game of the season, which is against USC Upstate on Saturday. ETSU is still in the hunt for a spot in the Atlantic Sun Tournament and could lock up a spot with a win or a Lipscomb loss on Monday night. ETSU leads the Atlantic Sun in rebounds per game (43.7), rebound margin (+6.6) and blocks (5.4 per game). Destiny Mitchell leads the team in points and rebounds. Mitchell averages 11.4 ppg, which is 10th in the A-Sun, and 8.1 rpg, which ranks third in the conference.
ETSU is up 10-5 in the all-time series, but UNF has won the last three games. The Ospreys also swept the series for the first time last season.
