#WSOC Battles for Scoreless Draw with Mercer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team earned a hard-fought scoreless draw in double-overtime against Mercer on Friday night at Hodges Stadium.
"We played a great team today," said head coach Linda Hamilton. "I was proud of the way we kept fighting throughout the match."
The defense stood their ground once again, earning their second shutout in a row. Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week Megan Dorsey tallied 12 saves on the night. Maggie Cropp recorded eight saves for the Bears.
The Ospreys were outshot 30-19 and both teams tallied six corner kicks. Both teams had opportunities at the goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
Senior forward Carolina Lencina led the Ospreys with four shots, followed by freshman forward Alexis Bredeau with three. The Ospreys threatened to score with 2:25 left to play in regulation when Lencina's shot was just a bit high and hit the crossbar.
Casey Barrett, Brianna Stampler, Washida Blackman, Lauren Gassie and Tess Patton each had five shots on the night for Mercer.
"We had some opportunities tonight to but we were just unable to finish," said Hamilton. "We look to end the regular season on a high note on Sunday for senior day."
