
#WSOC Concludes Regular Season at Hodges Stadium

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team returns to Hodges Stadium for the first time this season after playing all their home matches at Patton Park. The Ospreys take on Mercer on Friday at 7 p.m., before facing Kennesaw State on Sunday at 1 p.m. for senior day.
Last weekend, the Ospreys (5-9-3) were on the road and battled East Tennessee State to a 2-2 draw on Friday night before shutting out USC Upstate 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
In the 2-2 draw with ETSU, the Ospreys were relentless despite being outshot 46-12. Junior keeper Megan Dorsey set a school record, tallying 20 saves in the match. Â Her total marked the most this season in a game at the NCAA Division I level. Senior forward Lauren Hopfensperger and junior midfielder Alex Herman each scored a goal for the Ospreys.
On Sunday afternoon, seniors Thea Linkfield, Carolina Lencina and Heather Botelho each scored in the 3-0 shutout against USC Upstate. The Ospreys outshot the Spartans 17-8, while freshman forward Alexis Bredeau led the Ospreys with six shots including four on goal. Dorsey tallied five saves in the match to earn the victory.
Dorsey's weekend performance led to her third Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week award.
Mercer (9-6-2) fell to Florida Gulf Coast 3-1 on Friday night and came back and beat Stetson 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Macon. Mercer currently sits in 3rd place in the A-Sun. The Bears are led by junior forward Washida Blackman who has tallied six goals on the year. Last season the Ospreys fell twice to the Bears, losing both matches 3-0.
The Ospreys take on Kennesaw State (7-7-1) on Sunday afternoon on senior day. The Owls beat Stetson 1-0 on Friday evening and held first place FGCU to a scoreless 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon. Katrina Frost leads the Owls with four goals. Â Kennesaw State holds a 10-2-1 advantage in the all-time series against North Florida.
