Pair of Top 20 Finishes Pace #MGolf at Shoal Creek Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Juniors MJ Maguire and Joey Petronio each posted Top 20 finishes helping the North Florida men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by Graeme McDowell.
Maguire and Petronio finished tied for 12th and 20th, respectively. Maguire shot a one-under total 215 over the three rounds while Petronio finished at one-over 217 highlighted by a final round 71 (-1).
As a team, the Ospreys carded a final round 297 en route to a 54-hole total of 884.
Sophomore Taylor Hancock made his season debut for UNF finishing tied for 44th at 226 including a final round 76 while fellow sophomore Austin Padova fired a 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for 47th at 227. Junior newcomer Parker Jones rounded out the Osprey travel lineup with a tie for 60th finish at 233. Senior Taylor Johnson, who competed as an individual, collected a tie for 41st at 223.
Memphis rallied in the final round to capture the team title with a tournament total of 842, outdistancing event host UAB (848) by six shots. Florida and Ole Miss tied for third at 857 followed by UCF (864), Liberty (866), Georgia Southern (303), North Texas (879), UNF, Missouri (887), Tulsa (890) and Toledo (904).
Lars van Meijel of Memphis and Ole Miss' Blake Morris shared medalist honors at 8-under 208.
North Florida will take a couple weeks off from competition before returning to the links on Oct. 19-21 at the prestigious Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla.
