The Hurricanes won the first three singles matches in order to win the match. No. 27 Mejia defeated Aviles 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Zimmerman defeated Cunningham 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Bolivar had a three-set win at No. 4 against Weymar. Bolivar won the first set 6-1, but Weymar battled back for a 6-4 win in the second set to keep UNF alive. However, Bolivar claimed the third set and match point with a 6-0 score.
UNF fought hard against Miami in the singles competition with three courts heading into three sets. In addition to Weymar, Berkenbrock and Day had just begun their third sets on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts, respectively, against two nationally ranked opponents. Meanwhile, Pereira erased a large deficit in the first set on the No. 6 court in order to force a tie-breaking point.
UNF concludes the season with a 16-5 record, an Atlantic Sun regular season championship, and an Atlantic Sun Tournament title. The Ospreys' 2012 NCAA appearance was their second trip to the tournament in three years.
