
Women's Basketball Returns to UNF Arena on Thursday Against Florida Gulf Coast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's basketball returns to its homecourt at UNF Arena when the Ospreys host Atlantic Sun leader Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
UNF will attempt to snap a two-game skid on Thursday night with the Ospreys coming off a 78-64 setback at Lipscomb on Saturday. The Ospreys had four players with 10-or-more points at Lipscomb with Jadhken Kerr leading the way with 15 points on five threes. Brittany Kirkland and Desitnee Smith each had 12 points, while Raneisha Lamar added 10. For Smith, her 12 points were a career-high and all came in the first half, including nine within a span of 1:49. Meanwhile, Lamar was close to notching her first-career double-double, coming just one rebound short. Lamar pulled down a team-best nine boards.
Four of UNF's seven games in February take place at UNF Arena. The Ospreys are an all-time 179-101 at UNF Arena.
The only conference team to be undefeated in Atlantic Sun play, Florida Gulf Coast rides an 11-game winning streak, a No. 3 ranking in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, and receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll into Thursday's game. The Eagles average a national-best three-point field goals per game (11.5) and have the nation's top three-point shooter in Eglah Griffin (49.4 percent). Sarah Hansen leads a trio of Eagles in double-digits in scoring and is also the team's top rebounder.
Florida Gulf Coast holds a 7-2 advantage in the series and won this season's earlier match up 68-34 at Alico Arena.
