
Swimming Posts Solid Performance in Day 1 of SCAD Invite

Meet Results (Day 1)
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of North Florida swimming team opened up the 2012 Savannah College of Art and Design Invitational on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Chatham County Aquatic Center. The Ospreys concluded Day One in third place following a pair of events.
Freshmen Amy Taylor and Olivia Langford kicked off the SCAD Invitational with the 1,650-yard freestyle. Taylor posted the best time in the mile, notching a time of 17:37.55, topping her previous season best set at the All-Florida Invitational on Sept. 30 in Gainesville, Fla. Langford posted a time of 18:10.67 in the event to earn 12 points for the Ospreys.
In the second event of the evening, the quartet of Taylor, Bridget Woods, Langford and Natalie McCallum posted the top finish of the day for the Ospreys in the 800 freestyle relay. The time of 7:53.89 was the top time of the year for UNF. The relay team of Janie Kennedy, Caitlyn Gutierrez, Rebeca Bernard and Maria Bernard finished just off the pace with a collective time of 8:02.67.
The bulk of the action takes place on Friday and Saturday. Friday's events include the 200 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 400 medley relay. On Saturday, the invitational concludes with the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay.
Individual events on Friday and Saturday are prelim/final format. Preliminaries begin in the morning with the top 16 competitors in each event returning in the evening for the finals. All relay events are swum as timed finals during the evening sessions.
