FORT MYERS, Fla. – The North Florida basketball team opens road play in the Atlantic Sun Conference Saturday at 5:15 p.m. against Florida Gulf Coast at Alico Arena.
The Ospreys (8-8, 2-1 ASun), who have won three of their last four, look to build on their win over Lipscomb on Wednesday night. FGCU (6-8, 2-2) has also won three of their last four games heading into Saturday's tilt.
Saturday's game marks the 12th all-time meeting between UNF and Florida Gulf Coast on the hardwood. The Eagles hold a slim 6-5 lead in the series but the Ospreys have won the last five meetings including a tightly contested 53-51 decision in their last visit to Alico.
Parker Smith leads the team as the lone UNF player averaging double figures at 11.4 points per game. Andy Diaz (9.9), Jerron Granberry (9.7) and Travis Wallace (9.6) are just out of double digits. Wallace tops the squad in rebounding pulling down 5.5 boards a game.
UNF has been clicking recently on offense topping the 80-point mark in three of their last four outings highlighted by a 90-point effort in their last road game at Florida A&M.
The Ospreys are just 1-7 on the road this season while FGCU has amassed a 7-1 mark at home so far this year.
