Baseball Resumes A-Sun Play at No. 17 Stetson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team returns to action after taking a week off for final exams. The Ospreys travel to DeLand, Fla. for a pivotal three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series against No. 17 Stetson. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Ospreys travel to DeLand, Fla. for a pivotal three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series against No. 17 Stetson. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The games will be available via live stats. In addition, all three games will be aired live on WHJX-FM (105.7 Jacksonville). Fans can also see the games on Hatter Vision at GoHatters.com
North Florida enters the week with a 23-15 overall record and a 12-9 mark in the Atlantic Sun, while No. 17 Stetson is 31-10 with a 14-4 record in the A-Sun.
Stetson leads the all-time series between the two schools by a slim 13-12 margin. Despite being 5-7 in Jacksonville, the Ospreys are 7-6 all-time against the Hatters in DeLand.
The last time the two teams met, North Florida won a weekend series at Harmon Stadium, claiming the series 2-1. The Ospreys won the first game of a doubleheader 17-0 in seven innings before claiming the series with a 6-1 victory in the second game of the twin bill. The Hatters won the final game of the series, 10-3, which was the final game at home for Hall of Fame head coach Dusty Rhodes.
The last time North Florida and Stetson met in DeLand, the Hatters won the three-game tilt, 2-1. Stetson downed UNF 14-1 in the opening game before the Ospreys earned an 11-9 victory in 10 innings. The Ospreys fell 10-8 in the rubber match of the series.
North Florida enters the weekend 3-4 (.429) against schools from the state of Florida this season. UNF lost a three-game series to Florida Gulf Coast, 2-1, and split a two-game set with FIU. North Florida split a pair of games against Bethune-Cookman with each team winning on their home field.
UNF enters the weekend with a 10-6 (.625) record in away games. The Ospreys have won five of their last seven road games dating back to April 1 (.714).
Scouting the Opposition:
Stetson enters the weekend with a 31-10 overall record and lead the Atlantic Sun with a 14-4 mark. The Hatters have been nationally ranked throughout most of the year, ranking No. 17 heading into the weekend.
Stetson was preseason picked fifth in the A-Sun, just two spots ahead of North Florida. If the tournament started today, the Hatters would be the top seed, while the Ospreys would be the No. 3 seed.
