JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Freshman pitcher Cortney Radke turned in her fifth consecutive complete game and third win in a row as she led the North Florida softball team (9-9) over Delaware State (5-3), 6-0, Tuesday night at the UNF Softball Complex. For the first time since April 3-9, 2005, the Ospreys shutout its opponent in three consecutive games.
Radke allowed no runs for her second shutout in a row, fanning seven batters while walking just one on three hits.
All six runs came across in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Ospreys first plated one off a sacrifice bunt and followed that with a single up the middle to bring in a run. Later in the inning, consecutive doubles by freshman Marissa Thomas and junior Kaley Brosky scored two runs each, pushing the lead out to 6-0 with just two innings remaining.
Freshmen Lauren Pollack and Mariah Reynolds had multi-hit days at the plate with both hitting 2-for-4. Pollack also earned a RBI on the night.
Delaware State's Ashlyn Campbell (1-1) picked up her first loss of the year, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks in 4.2 innings of work.
Up next, North Florida hosts the UNF Osprey Invitational on the weekend of March 11-13. The Ospreys first game is against Mount St. Mary's on March 11 with the first pitch schedule for 7 p.m.
