
UNF Hits the Road for a Pair of Matches in Nashville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team hits the road, traveling to Nashville, Tenn. to face Atlantic Sun Conference opponents, Lipscomb and Belmont. UNF will square off against Lipscomb on Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. (EST) and will play Belmont on Saturday, March 26 in an 11 a.m. (EST) match.
UNF (9-3, 4-1 A-Sun) claimed a 5-2 over Kennesaw State the last time out. The Ospreys swept the doubles matches to take the point. Danielle Day, Victoria Krook, Melanie Aguirre and Simona Weymar all secured wins in singles play to help the Ospreys to the win.
Weymar has tallied an 11-1 record this season, having seen time in both the No. 4 and No. 5. Day is 10-2 in singles, playing in both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Krook has an 8-3 mark, seeing time at No. 2 and No. 3 while Aguirre is 6-6 with time in the No. 2, 3 and 4. Aline Berkenbrock is 4-4 at the No. 1 whlie Melinda Doak has a 4-6 record, playing primarily in the No. 6. Aguirre and Day have teamed up all season in the No. 2 doubles and have posted a 10-2 record to lead the Ospreys.
Lipscomb (2-10, 1-4 A-Sun) fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1 in the team's previous match. The Bison claimed a point in the No. 3 singles as Alyssa Bellini picked up a win.
UNF defeated Lipscomb, 6-1 in the 2010 season. The Bison finished 11th in last season's A-Sun standings.
Belmont (5-9, 1-4 A-Sun) dropped a 7-0 decision to Stetson in the team's last match. The Bruins return All-Freshman team selection Catherine Holliday from last year's team that finished 10th in the final A-Sun standings.
The Ospreys claimed a 6-1 win over the Bruins last season.
UNF will return home, following the weekend road swing, to host Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, April 1-2, respectively.
