Ospreys to Wrap Regular Season at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will wrap up the 2010-11 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Atlantic Sun Conference foe Florida Gulf Coast. Game time is set for 5:15 p.m. at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.
UNF (13-15, 11-8 A-Sun) is coming off a disappointing, 57-51 loss at Stetson. Sophomores Taylor Smith and Larkira Jones led the Ospreys. Smith notched a career-high 18 points while Jones added 14 points, grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds and tallied five blocked shots.
Junior Brittany Kirkland leads the Ospreys on the season, averaging 14.1 points per game. Smith is adding 9.0 points while sophomore Jadhken Kerr is tallying 7.3 points per game. Jones is grabbing a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game and blocking a conference-best, 2.3 shots per game. Senior Juliemay Syquio is handing out 3.8 assists per game.
The Eagles (23-2, 16-2 A-Sun) secured the Atlantic Sun regular season title on Thursday with a 64-59 win over Jacksonville. FGCU is being led this season by Sarah Hansen with 13.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Shannon Murphy is notching 12.1 points and Kelsey Jacobson is adding 11.6 points per game. Jacobson leads the A-Sun in three pointers per game, averaging 3.04.
FGCU holds the all-time series lead, 5-2 and picked up a 73-51 win over UNF early in the season at UNF Arena.
Kirkland led the Ospreys with 19 points and Syquio added 10. Junior Margaret Bell came off the bench to grab eight rebounds. The Eagles were led by Hansen with 24 points while Murphy and Jacobson added 17 and 11, respectively.
Following Saturday's game, the Ospreys will travel to Macon, Ga. for the 2011 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Championship. Seedings for the event will be determined on Saturday following the final games of the regular season.
