
UNF Set to Face Upstate in Road Contest

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team is set to face USC Upstate on Monday, Feb. 14 in an Atlantic Sun Conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the G.B. Hodge Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
UNF (11-13, 9-6 A-Sun) is looking to bounce back after falling to ETSU in the last contest. Leading the Ospreys this season is junior Brittany Kirkland with 14.8 points per game. Sophomore Taylor Smith is adding 8.2 points per game while senior Juliemay Syquio is tallying 7.4 points and handing out 3.5 assists per game. Sophomore Larkira Jones is grabbing a team-high 9.1 rebounds and a league-leading 2.1 blocks per game.
The Spartans (13-11, 9-6 A-Sun) are coming off a 72-68 win over Jacksonville on Saturday. Upstate is being led this season by Chelsea McMillan, averaging a double-double with 17 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Tee'Ara Copney is adding 14.2 points and tallying 4.3 assists per game.
UNF holds the all-time series lead 12-5 and won the last meeting between the two teams, 91-73 on Jan. 15 at UNF Arena.
Four players hit double-digits in that game for the Ospreys with Kirkland leading with 20 points. She also notched seven assists in the game. Jadhken Kerr added 14 points and Raneisha Lamar had 13. Jade Givens tallied 10. McMillan led for the Spartans with 34 points and 17 rebounds. Kendra Wallace notched 15 points.
The Ospreys will return to UNF Arena for the final home weekend of the season, hosting Mercer and Kennesaw State on Friday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, Feb. 20, respectively. The Mercer game is set for 4 p.m. and will be UNF's annual PinkZone game. Beginning at noon, the KSU game is “Senior Night” and will be televised on CSS-TV.
