
UNF Hosts Bethune-Cookman Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida basketball team puts its perfect 3-0 home record on the line Tuesday when it hosts in-state foe Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (3-4) have won back-to-back games in their current four-game home stand. Bethune-Cookman enters Tuesday' tilt at 2-4 on the season following a 75-51 loss Sunday at Illinois State.
Parker Smith posted a perfect shooting night for UNF in their last outing Friday night against Jackson State. Smith finished with a team-high 16 points including going 5-for-5 from beyond the three-point line. Travis Wallace and Jimmy Williams each scored 11 in the victory.
Jerron Granberry leads the Ospreys in scoring at 10.7 points a game with Wallace also in double digits at 10.0 ppg. Wallace tops the team in rebounding at 5.6 boards a contest and Williams paces the team in assists with 2.6 per game.
Tuesday's contest marks the first meeting between the Ospreys and Wildcats on the hardwood. UNF is 8-9 all-time against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). This season North Florida will play three MEAC squads having already defeated Savannah State, 62-57, and with a game at Florida A&M (Dec. 21) yet to come.
The Wildcats have dropped two of their last three games. BCU features four players averaging in double digits led by Anthony Breeze with 15.5 ppg. Bethune-Cookman is 0-2 this season against teams from the Atlantic Sun having lost to Stetson (65-60) and Jacksonville (65-55).
