Ospreys Overall Stats
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida will enter into a six team tournament this weekend at the UCF Softball Complex in Orlando Fla. On Friday, Feb. 19th the Ospreys will take on Troy at 6 p.m. and UCF at 8 p.m. On Saturday, UNF will play an 11 a.m. game against South Carolina, followed by a 3:30 p.m. game against FAMU, before Sunday's game at 9 a.m. against Villanova.
The Ospreys (1-6) enter the tournament with a game against Troy (2-0), who the Ospreys played earlier in the week during its home opener. The Ospreys' ability to send the second game into eight innings and see some extra pitches against Trojans' all-region pitcher Ashley Williams will aid the Ospreys in their third meeting.
UCF (1-3) plays the Ospreys in a night cap. The Knights enter the season after having lost to Atlantic Sun affiliate Stetson, 7-1, Wednesday night in Orlando.
Leading the five teams with its record is SEC opponent South Carolina who enters the tournament with a 4-0 record. The Gamecocks come into the weekend after sweeping Longwood, 9-2 in the first game and then 5-1 in the second. In 2009 South Carolina went 21-24 finishing fifth in the SEC east division.
FAMU (0-1) last season went 30-32 and finished first in the south division of the MEAC with a conference record of 12-0, and Villanova (0-0), who is opening their 2010 season in Orlando, finished the 2009 season 23-26 with a 6-18 record in the Big East.
