
Ospreys Drop Two on Opening Day

SIU's Danielle Glosson (1-0) went 7 innings and produced 10 strikeouts to limit the Ospreys' offense. In the second inning
The Salukis (1-0) did their damage in the top of the fifth with their second run scored coming off of a home run by Haley Gorman to right field.
In the bottom of the inning the Ospreys cut the two run deficit in half with a blast from shortstop Britanie Block. After doubling earlier in the game, Block took the Salukis' ace deep, cutting the score to 2-1.
Senior pitcher Devyn Findley (0-1) went seven innings allowing two runs on six hits, but
Illinois-Chicago (1-0) started the game with two runs right out of the box in the first inning. UIC's All-Horizon League pitcher, Ashley Hewitt, went seven innings allowing one run on three hits.
The Ospreys offense struggled early collecting just one hit until the top of the sixth inning when the team generated two base hits. The late rally was ignited by a single from Block and a Flame's error that allowed senior Airen Payne to reach first base. Senior Kara Rutenbar would be the one to finally drive in Block for the Ospreys' first run of the game, but it proved to be too little too late as UNF droped the second game, 4-1.
