
Women’s Basketball to Host FAU in Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will host Florida Atlantic in the 2010-11 home opener on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (0-2) opened the season with a pair of games against BCS conference opponents, North Carolina and Cincinnati, and are looking to pick up their first win of the season.
Leading UNF is Brittany Kirkland with 11 points per game while dishing out a team-high 2.5 assists per game. Juliemay Syquio is adding 7.0 points per game. On the boards, Larkira Jones is grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game and Kim Baker is averaging 4.0 rebounds per game.
Florida Atlantic (1-2) is coming off a pair of losses to Atlantic Sun Conference opponents, Kennesaw State and Jacksonville.
The Owls are led by four players averaging double-digit points. Teri Stamps is putting up 13.7 points per game while tallying 4.0 assists per game. Kimberly Smith is adding 12.0 points per game and Vontrice Dennis is averaging a double-double with 11.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. DaLita Scott rounds out the scoring with 10.3 points per game.
This is just the fourth meeting between the two teams, with FAU holding the 3-0 advantage over the Ospreys. The two teams last met during the 2005-06 season when the Owls secured a 76-69 win at UNF Arena.
Following Friday's contest, the Ospreys will be back on the road with a trip to Florida on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. in Gainesville, Fla.
