Ospreys Continue A-Sun Play at Home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team continues Atlantic Sun Conference play with a pair of matches over the weekend at Hodges Stadium. The Ospreys are set to battle Belmont on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. before taking on Lipscomb on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m.

North Florida enters the weekend 1-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the Atlantic Sun. The Ospreys dropped a heartbreaker to crosstown rival Jacksonville, 1-0, on Sunday, Oct. 3 to open A-Sun play.

Belmont enters Friday's match with a 3-7-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in the conference. The Bruins dropped matches to Stetson (L, 0-1) and Florida Gulf Coast (L, 0-2) to start conference play.

Lipscomb heads into the weekend with a 4-6-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 conference record. The Bison lost to Florida Gulf Coast (L, 1-2) to open the conference season and dropped a match to Stetson (L, 0-4). Lipscomb will play Jacksonville on Friday before taking on the Ospreys on Sunday.

The Ospreys are led by Ricky Lawrence. The true freshman has six points on the season, scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists.

Captains Adam O'Neill and Greg Crowell each have two points on the year, netting a goal apiece. Calvin Lowe is second on the team with an assist.

UNF is 1-4-0 all-time against Belmont, but hold a 3-1-1 advantage over Lipscomb. The Ospreys dropped a 4-1 decision to the Bruins last season in Nashville, Tenn., while playing the Bison to a 2-2 double overtime tie.

North Florida is 1-1-0 against Belmont at Hodges Stadium, winning the last matchup between the two schools 3-2 in Jacksonville. Against Lipscomb, UNF is 1-1-0 at home. North Florida won the first match the two teams played in Jacksonville, 1-0, but dropped the most recent match at Hodges Stadium, 3-1.

The University of North Florida will be broadcast online on ASun.TV twice during the week as both men's soccer matches highlight the broadcasts.
