
North Florida Falls to Stetson

DeLand, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team fell to Stetson, 5-1, on the road on Friday night in Atlantic Sun Conference play.
Freshman Ricky Lawrence netted the only goal for the Ospreys. Trailing 1-0, the true freshman connected on his third goal of the season. His shot from 25 yards out went top shelf over the keeper for the goal.
The Ospreys managed only five shots on the night with two shots on goal. Lawrence led the team with a pair of shots and had half of the teams' shots on goal. In addition to Lawrence's goal, junior Enrique Haeussler recorded a shot on goal. Senior Adam O'Neill and junior Calvin Lowe each had shots on the night.
Andrew Calise earned the start at goal for the Ospreys. The junior recorded three saves, but took the loss allowing three goals. True freshman Tyler Willets entered the match for the final 20 minutes, recording a pair of saves.
Stetson was the first team to score. Joakim Helland took a cross from Jonathan Mendoza for a one-timer in the top right corner of the goal to go ahead 1-0.
Lawrence tied the score at 1-1 with his third goal of the season in the 27th minute. His shot from 25 yards out went top shelf over the keeper for the goal.
Neither team could muster a goal until the Hatters broke the 1-1 tie in the 51st minute of the match. Gonzalo De Mujica scored what proved to be the match-winning goal on a penalty kick.
De Mujica scored a second goal of the night in the 70th minute and the Ospreys surrendered a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of the match.
North Florida returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 31, as they travel to Fort Myers for a match against No. 23 Florida Gulf Coast at 2 p.m.
