UNF alone in seventh, five strokes out of third

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2009) – The University of North Florida golf team is in second place after a consistent day of play at the Gator Invitational. The Ospreys opened with a round 285 before closing the afternoon session with a team score of 284.

UNF's 8-over-par total has the Ospreys only six strokes behind third-place Duke heading into the final round of play and only three shots out of fourth place.

Jeff Dennis is tied for ninth in the individual standings after firing an even par round of 70 in the afternoon that he preceded with a round of 69 in the morning.

J.C. Horne and Joe Byun are each tied for 30^th after shooting a two-round total of 143. Horne began his day with a 73 before shooting an even par 70, while Byun fired rounds of 72 and 71. Jordan Gibb (73-73=146) is tied for 49^th, while Chris Kennedy (71-79=150) is tied for 66^th.

Host Florida leads the team competition at 15-under-par with Florida's Toby Raglund leading all individuals at 7-under-par after he shot rounds of 68 and 65.

UNF was tied for seventh after one round of play, shooting a team score of 285 (+5). Dennis led the way for the Ospreys with a round of 69, putting together two birdies and a bogey.

Final round action at the Gator Invitational will take place on Sunday.
