Senior leads UNF to a ninth-place finish in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida senior Jeff Dennis carded five birdies on the day and shot a 1-under-par 69 to put together his best finish of the season, tying for sixth at the Gator Invitational with a three-round total of 2-under-par.
Dennis helped lead the Ospreys to a ninth-place finish in the 15-team field. The Ospreys closed out the final round at the par-70 layout of the Mark Bostick Golf Course with a score of 287 (+7). UNF finished five strokes behind eighth place UT-Chattanooga and defeated five other teams.
Dennis – who teed off on hole No. 10 – began his day with birdies on two of his first three holes before birdying two of the first three on his back nine.
Chris Kennedy rebounded from a second round 79 to shoot 72 on Sunday and finish tied for 65th. Joe Byun and Chris Kennedy each shot 73 to finish tied for 35th. Jordan Gibb rounded out the scoring for the Ospreys with a 74 and finished tied for 60th.
Major Forbess, playing as an individual, closed out the tournament in a tie for 45th, opening the event with a 73 before shooting rounds of 70 and 74.
The Ospreys are back on the course next Sunday when they host the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational.
