
Women’s Basketball to Host Alabama State

GAME NOTES
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will host Alabama State in an out-of-conference game on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
UNF (1-4) is looking to pick up its second consecutive home win of the 2009-10 season after defeating Bethune-Cookman, 75-57, in the Ospreys' home opener on Nov. 24. Senior forward Arlande Cherizol posted 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the win over the Wildcats while senior center Shennette Sheffield added 15 points.
Sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland is leading the Ospreys on the season, averaging 11.8 points per game while junior guard Juliemay Syquio is adding 8.8 points per game while dishing out 3.8 assists per game. Cherizol is pulling down 8.4 rebounds per game.
Alabama State (1-4) is being led by Tanika Jackson with 8.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Nikel White is adding 7.2 points per game.
This is the first meeting between North Florida and Alabama State. It is also the first time that the Ospreys have met a team from the SWAC.
Single-game tickets for women's basketball games are $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $5 and limited to one per student.
