Swimming & Diving to Host Dual Meet

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida swimming and diving team is set to host its first meet of the season as the Ospreys welcomes Campbell to the UNF Aquatic Center on Saturday, Nov. 7, at noon.

“It will be great to be swimming in our first home meet of the season against a conference opponent Campbell,” stated head coach Beth Harrell. “The girls are excited about the meet and extremely pumped up to be swimming at home for the first time this season. I think they are going to do a good job. It should be really fun.”

The Ospreys enter the meet after sweeping their first three meets of the season. North Florida opened the season on the road against Florida A&M on Saturday, Oct. 10, and recorded a decisive victory, 126-25. The Ospreys had little trouble in the meet as they won all nine events they raced, sweeping the top three spots eight events. With a substantial lead heading into the final three events, UNF exhibitioned each of its swimmers.

Two weeks later on Saturday, Oct. 24, UNF traveled to Charleston, S.C. for a pair of dual meets against College of Charleston and Georgia Southern. The Ospreys dismantled the host Cougars, 227-68, and edged out the Eagles, 149-141, to remain perfect on the season. UNF won 10 of the 16 events in the meet to claim both victories. The Ospreys were led by junior Lyn Ann Nelson, sophomore Amanda Anderson, sophomore Taylor Crosby and true freshman Julia Moomaw.

North Florida has registered two Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmers of the Week, along with a CCSA Diver of the Week. Senior Emily Shaw was named Swimmer of the Week following her performance at the meet against Florida A&M, while Nelson picked up the accolades for her showing against College of Charleston and Georgia Southern. Moomaw was named Diver of the Week after her first collegiate meet against the Cougars and Eagles.
