UNF returns to pool at UNC Wilmington
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After a month of winter training, the University of North Florida women's swimming and diving team is ready to return to competition. The Lady Ospreys will host its first meet of 2009 at 11 a.m. on Saturday against UNC Wilmington, ranked No. 17 in the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll.
The Lady Ospreys have been strong this year in competition with a 3-0 dual record and a third-place finish at the Davidson Invitational in November. It is UNF's first non-conference dual of the season.
UNF showed its tenacity on the final day of the Davidson Invitational on Nov. 24 after beginning the day in fifth place. Senior diver Emily Eisenhower took first in 1-meter diving and third in the 3-meter competition to give UNF 46 points.
Sophomores Lyn Ann Nelson, Sara Taylor, junior Emily Shaw and sophomore Megan Boudreau teamed up to take second in the 400-medley relay - the meet's final event - for 34 points to push the Lady Ospreys past two teams. UNF had 13 season-best times at the meet.
UNC Wilmington last swam on Nov. 23 at the Patriot Invitational and took second place. The Seahawks won their last dual in a 146-97 decision over College of Charleston on Nov. 15.
