Facing a strong
The Lady Ospreys made their home debut and knocked off Florida International, 1-0, on Sunday. The win marked UNF's first of the season and capped a home-opening doubleheader sweep for UNF, with the men's team outlasting Gardner-Webb 3-2 in the first game of the day at Hodges Stadium. Who's Hot
Junior Katelin Swift scored both of UNF's goals this past week for her first and second goals of the season. Swift led the team last season with three game-winning goals, and leads this year's squad after netting the game-winner against Florida International on Sunday. She scored eight goals as a freshman and four as a sophomore.
Record Watch
With two goals over the weekend, Swift increased her career total to 14 as a Lady Osprey. She needs just three more to break into the top-10 all-time in career goals scored.
Senior Elizabeth Gowan moved closer to adding her name to the record book in career assists when she assisted Swift's game-winner against FIU. She now needs just one assist to break into the top-10 in that category. Also, Gowan can break into the top-10 in goals scored in UNF women's soccer history if she matches her total (6) from a year ago.
Senior goalkeeper Rachael Howard entered the season with 120 career saves, which ranked her third in UNF women's soccer history. With 12 this season, she has moved into second place and needs just four to become the Lady Osprey all-time leader. Her 1.38 career goals against average also ranks eighth in the Lady Osprey record book.
Quotables
Head coach Linda Hamilton on Sunday's win: “Every win is important, but it is especially important to win in your own stadium in front of your own fans. It's a lot of fun, too. Also, it gives the team a boost of confidence to get that first win and shed some of the pressure.”
