Ospreys will continue series with Campbell Monday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team dropped a 10-4 game to Campbell on Saturday in a rain-shortened five innings at Harmon Stadium.
UNF (17-13, 8-9 Atlantic Sun Conference) allowed Campbell to take control from the get-go, taking a 10-2 lead through the middle of the fifth. The Ospreys first cut in to Campbell's lead in the bottom of the third when senior Travis Martin hit a screaming two-run home run that brought senior Chad Knight in to score.
Momentum was building for UNF, however, in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Preston Hale hit an RBI single to center field to drive in Knight, who led off the inning with a double. Hale scored later in the inning on an RBI groundout by sophomore Andrew Hannon. Senior T.J. Gaudy kept the momentum going in the next at-bat on a triple to center field, but the inning was brought to a halt when senior Andy Warren flew out.
Junior Spencer Jones (3-2) picked up the loss for UNF after allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out two.
The final game of the series will be played at noon on Monday at Harmon Stadium. Live stats will be available on UNFOspreys.com.
