HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The University of North Florida women's swimming and diving team made major splashes at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Championships over the weekend – three to be exact.
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The University of North Florida women's swimming and diving team made major splashes at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Championships over the weekend – three to be exact.
Junior Caroline Poling led UNF with two new school records. In the 200-butterfly, she shattered Christi Britt's previous mark of 2:09.24 with a time of 2:07.70 in the event's preliminary. Freshman Patricia Lanoue also bested the previous record, clocking in at 2:07.80 and finishing in second in the final.
Poling also broke the record in the 100-butterfly with a time of 57.45, which allowed her to take second in the event.
Freshman Lyn Ann Nelson set a new school record in the 500-freestyle when she swam the event preliminary in 5:01.91. Nelson was also victorious in the 200-freestyle, clocking in at 1:52.45.
Junior Emily Eisenhower was the conference champion in both 1 and 3-meter diving. Her score of 236.25 in the 1-meter competition was nearly 15 points ahead of the second-place finisher. In 3-meter diving, she put up a score of 266.90, which was 23 points stronger than Florida Gulf Coast's Karmin McNamara.
She was also honored after the meet, being named the Most Outstanding Diver. UNF diving coach Melisa Hyams was named the Diving Coach of the Year.
The Lady Ospreys finished the meet in fifth place with 409 points. Davidson was the team conference champion with 660 points.
