Ospreys take on Mercer at 4:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will play its 2007-08 home finale this afternoon at UNF Arena and bid farewell to three senior players in the process.
James Grimball, Chris Timberlake and Jonson Yousefzadeh will be honored prior to the game in a "Senior Day" ceremony. Yousefzadeh is a junior in athletic classification but a senior academically and will graduate this spring. He does not plan to return to the team next season.
Timberlake is one of five 1,000-point scorers in school history and holds the UNF records for 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goals attempted and steals. Grimball holds the school record for blocked shots and is one of only eight players in school history with 900 points scored. The Jacksonville native also has more than 500 career rebounds.
The Ospreys will hope to close their home season in strong fashion by knocking off a team they have never beaten. Mercer comes into today's game 5- 0 all-time against UNF, including a 2-0 mark at UNF Arena. The Bears are coming off an overtime loss at Jacksonville on Thursday night (96-87).
UNF, meanwhile, dropped a hard-fought game to old Division II nemesis Kennesaw State. Following Saturday's game, the Ospreys will close their season with games at Stetson on Feb. 28 and at Florida Gulf Coast on March 1.
