Ahern (1-2) earned the victory, allowing one run one two hits in 4.2 innings of work before Findley came on in the fifth to nail the door shut and earn her first save of the year.
Hyde got her team on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a home run to left that gave UNF a 2-0 advantage. Williams added to that lead with her second home run in two days, giving the Lady Ospreys a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth. The home run was the 17th of her career and tied Williams for the all-time home run lead at UNF.
Ashley Parenteau – who is tied with Williams for that all-time home run lead – drove home the game-winning run with an RBI double in the top of the seventh in game one to give Findley the edge she would need to capture her fourth-straight win in the pitching circle.
“We played good fundamental softball and pitched well all day,” UNF head coach Sonya Wilmoth said. “In the first game we got runners on and moved them around the basepaths and in the second we used our power to get the win.”
Findley helped herself in the seventh inning with a leadoff single up the middle, then moved to second on a Lauren Pulling sacrifice bunt. Parenteau finally brought her home two batters later with a double to right field that gave the Lady Ospreys a 3-2 advantage.
The Bulldogs threatened in the bottom of the seventh, putting a runner in scoring position with one out, but Findley was able to turn away the rally, retiring the last two batters of the game. She surrendered six hits in all, walking three and striking out four.
UNF took a 2-1 advantage with single runs in the third and fourth innings. Kacie McCloud scored Ashley Battaglia with a sacrifice fly in the third before Hyde led off the fourth with a double and scored on a Gwen Williams sacrifice fly.
Hyde led the Lady Ospreys at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance.
The Lady Ospreys will play for the championship at the Samford Bulldog Bash Sunday at 2:15, taking on the winner of the matchup between
