The University of North Florida women's basketball team will complete its first conference homestand of the season and try to build on its first win in a conference opener when it hosts Florida Gulf Coast on Monday.

UNF (6-7, 1-0 A-Sun) has won its last two outings and three of its last five games without the services of leading scorer Jennifer Bowen. Defense has been the key ingredient to those UNF wins with the Lady Ospreys surrendering an average of 39.75 points in those victories.
UNF allowed only nine points in the first half of its win against Stetson and gave up a team Division I low of 36 points overall. Juliemay Syquio led the offense in that win, hitting a pair of 3-pointers en route to a 14-point performance.
FloridaGulfCoast (5-6, 0-1 A-Sun) lost its first ever Atlantic Sun Conference game on Saturday, falling to Jacksonville 62-58.
Monday's game could be won or lost beyond the 3-point arc. UNF comes into the contest leading the league in 3-point defense, holding opponents to a .249 mark from long range. The Eagles are fourth in the conference, shooting .305 from 3-point range, while ranking 12th in the league in defending the 3-pointer, allowing opponents a .436 shooting percentage.
