Giant slayer GWU visits UNF on Thursday

Gardner-Webb, UNF to battle at UNF Arena on Thursday night
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will begin a stretch of five home contests in its next eight games on Thursday night at UNF Arena when it squares off against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Gardner-Webb.
The Runnin' Bulldogs pulled off one of the nation's biggest upsets early in the season when they knocked off traditional SEC power Kentucky at Rupp Arena (84- 68 on Nov. 7). GWU has been somewhat inconsistent in conference play thus far, however, splitting each of their first three conference weekends - knocking off defending conference champ ETSU on the road (73- 69 on Jan. 12) but being upset twice by conference newcomers USC Upstate (73-59 on Jan. 10) and Florida Gulf Coast (87-80 Saturday). GWU is playing its final season as a member of the A-Sun.
UNF has endured its own struggles in A-Sun play, remaining winless in the league with a 92-68 loss at ETSU on Sunday. The Ospreys received a dose of bad news this week when it was learned that freshman Justin Cecil (6.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg) will miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury.
