The University of North Florida women's basketball team will load up its three-game winning streak and head to the Peach State on Saturday for the first of two Atlantic Sun Conference games.
Old rival Kennesaw State (6-7, 1-0 A-Sun) is first up for the Lady Ospreys (7-7, 2-0), which are off to their best start in their three-year affiliation with the A-Sun. UNF captured home wins against Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast last week thanks to a stellar defensive effort that saw the Lady Ospreys surrender only nine points in the opening half against Stetson before shooting 50 percent from the field in a win against Florida Gulf Coast.
KennesawState won its conference opener, downing Mercer 68-52. The Lady Owls come into the contest with the fourth-ranked offense in the Atlantic Sun, averaging 65.7 points a game. They will have to contend with UNF's top-ranked defense in the league, which is allowing 53.0 points a game and holding opponents to a .356 shooting percentage from the field.
These two squads are no stranger to playing close contests with each other. The last two games at KennesawState have gone to overtime, while the last meeting at UNF was a two-point KennesawState win.
The home team a decided advantage in this series, winning 16 of the 21 meeting between the teams. UNF, however, is 1-1 at the KSUConvocationCenter and will look to break a streak that has seen it lose its first four road games of the year.
