The University of North Florida women's basketball team will try to put a halt to its two-game losing streak on Saturday when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m.
Despite not coming away with a win on Wednesday night at South Florida, UNF (2-5) put together one of its best efforts of the season in a 75-68 loss to the Bulls. The Lady Ospreys fell behind by 13 points in the opening half of play to USF, but pulled within two points in the final minute of the half. UNF then found itself down by 17 in the second half, but didn't give in, closing out the game on an 18-7 run. The 68 points were the most this season for UNF.
The Lady Ospreys will not only look to snap a two-game losing streak against Southeastern Louisiana, but will also try to protect its home court after falling to Lehigh in their last outing in front of the hometown fans.
Jennifer Bowen led UNF in scoring its last two games out, averaging 17.5 points against Lehigh and USF. Bowen leads the Lady Ospreys this season with 10.6 points a game and her 22 points at South Florida were a season-high for the junior.
Bowen's fellow junior, Jennifer Guldager, has averaged eight rebounds in her last three games and her 6.9 rebounds a contest ranks among the top 10 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Southeastern Louisiana (3-3) has dropped two of its last three games, falling to A-Sun member Mercer in its last contest, 64-60. The Lady Lions have been no strangers to close games this season, with their last four contests being decided by four points or less. Kristy Carlin leads SE Louisiana with 15.2 points a game, while Brooke Necaise is the team's long-range bomber, taking more than half of the team's shots beyond the 3-point arc this season.
