The University of North Florida women's basketball team is back on the road Wednesday for a bout with in-state foe South Florida in Tampa.
UNF is 2-2 in its last two outings and 2-4 on the season after dropping a tight-knit 54-50 game against Lehigh last Friday. UNF held a nine-point lead in that game, but watched that slip to a 14-point deficit in the second half. The Lady Ospreys battled back from there and pulled within three points in the final minute of play.
Jennifer Bowen led the way for UNF with 13 points against Lehigh, while Tiffany Williams scored 10 off the bench. The game was the second in double figures for Williams who led the team in its opener with 14 points, but only scored 18 in UNF's next four outings.
USF is 5-2 on the season, with its only losses coming against 10th-ranked Duke and against IllinoisState. The Bulls head into Wednesday's matchup on a three-game winning streak, with an average margin of victory of 26 points in those games.
Shantia Grace leads South Florida with 17.3 points a game. Jessica Smith follows her with 15.7 points a contest and leads the team with 8.0 rebounds a game.
This will be the second meeting between UNF and USF, with the Bulls capturing a win against the Lady Ospreys two years ago.

Who's Hot: Willonda Windham pulled down a season-high seven rebounds in her start against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and drew three charges while collecting her first two assists of the season ... she followed that up with a team-high six rebounds against Lehigh to go along with nine points ... the UNF defense has allowed an average of 48.5 points a game in its last two outings.
Quoting Coach Tappmeyer: “South Florida will take away a lot of our first options on the offensive end. Playing them down there is a tough task. Our philosophy with games like this is to prepare ourselves for conference play, and taking on a tough Big East opponent will help us with that. We have to be mentally prepared to play 40 minutes.”
