JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After dropping a close game to Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night, the University of North Florida men's basketball team will remain in south Florida until Thursday, making the short drive down I-95 to face the 22nd- ranked Miami Hurricanes. Tipoff is set for 7:30 Thursday night.
Miami cracked the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls this week after its 10-0 start. UNF has faced a ranked opponent only twice since moving to Division I in 2005 - both at Florida in the last two years.
The Ospreys (1-8) rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to tie the game twice in the final four minutes against FAU in a 70-64 loss, but they weren't able to take advantage of multiple chances to take the lead in the closing minutes. UNF has lost its last two games by a combined 10 points.
Thursday's game will complete a three-game Sunshine State swing for UNF, which also played at Florida A&M on Saturday. The Ospreys have lost 37 consecutive games away from home.
After playing Miami, UNF will take five days off for the Christmas holiday before returning to practice on Dec. 26.
