Ospreys set for tangle with Gators
11/19/2007 3:18:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Tuesday game to be televised on SUN Sports at 8 p.m.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2007) - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will travel south to Gainesville on Tuesday night to face off against the two-time defending national champions. UNF and Florida are set to tip off at 8 p.m. in a game that will be televised by SUN Sports.
The Ospreys are coming off their first win of the season, a workmanlike 57-41 thrashing of Concordia College in a game where the Clippers were held to just nine points in the second half - a UNF record for fewest points allowed to an opponent in a half. The 41-point total was one point shy of the school record for fewest points allowed in a game (40 vs. Florida Tech in 1996).
The teams will play a televised contest for the second consecutive season. The then top-ranked Gators dispatched UNF 86-40 last season at the O'Connell Center. This season, the Gators are again undefeated (4-0), all lopsided home wins over North Dakota State, Tennessee Tech, North Carolina Central and Rutgers.
UNF opened its season with a pair of losses at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Classic in College Park, Md., falling to the host Terrapins and Tulsa on consecutive nights.
