LAS CRUCES, NM --The first ever meeting between New Mexico State and North Florida didn't go as planned for the Ospreys as they dropped game-one of the series, 13-4, on Friday night at Presley Askew Field in Las Cruces, NM.

The Aggies scored in the bottom of the first inning as Rodden led off with an infield single and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Brandon Lance. UNF catcher Brandon Diaz answered in the top of the second inning with his team-leading fourth home run of the season to knot the score up at 1-1.
UNF added another run in third as Hodach slapped a two-out RBI single down the right field line that allowed Martin to score from second base. NMSU reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth with two unearned runs. Designated hitter Derek Maytubby led off with a single, and came around to score on an RBI single down the left field line by Adam Harvey. Patrick Fields, who reached on an error by UNF right fielder Jon Dandridge, scored the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Joseph Godinez.

Fields started the scoring with a double off of the left center field wall to plate Lance, and Harvey dropped in a single to shallow right center that sent Maytubby home. Godinez and Rodden as added RBI singles in the inning.
The Aggies added a run in the sixth inning, but UNF got within four in the top of the seventh as Hodach had a two-out RBI single through the right side that sent Glanville and Martin across the plate to make the score 8-4.
NMSU added five runs in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. Martin and Hodach had two hits each to led the Ospreys' offense.
Jeremy Papelbon (2-4) worked four plus innings and stuck out six batters. However, he was tagged for six runs - four of which were earned and allowed eight hits. McFadden (1-4) tossed 6.1 innings, scattered six hits and three earned runs to earn his first victory of the season.
