Jessica Spangler joined the UNF Student Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) as an athletic academic advisor in August 2020. She will have academic oversight for men's and women's soccer.
Spangler came to the Osprey program from the University of Delaware, where she spent the 11 years as an academic coordinator/learning specialist. She also served a stint as an assistant director for the Academic Support and Career Development Unit at the University of Maryland.
A collegiate soccer player at Virginia Tech from 2000-04, Spangler began her career in academic support as an intern in academic services at the University of Richmond followed by a graduate assistantship in academic advising at VCU. In addition to her experience in collegiate athletic academics, Spangler is the co-founder of Future Captains Sports, an organization that provides college counseling to high school students.
A 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in human development, Spangler earned her master's degree in education from VCU in 2006.
Spangler, a native of Richmond, Va., is married to husband, Scott, and the couple have four children, Scott, Thomas, Carolina and Salma.
