As a sophomore, 2004-05: Made appearances in eight of the team's 11 tournaments, including the last three of the season...Closed out the fall with his best performance of the year, a tie for 21st at the University Club Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, La... Opened that tournament with a 69 before shooting a 75 and closing it out with a 68... After earning a start to open play in the spring at the Gator Invitational, played as an individual at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate, closing the tournament with an even-par 72... Closed out the year with a tie for 39th at the A-Sun Championships, shooting rounds of 75, 74 and 74.
As a freshman, 2003-04: Played in all 11 of UNF's events, finishing the year with the second best stroke average on the team. Made a big splash on the collegiate golf scene by winning his fourth tournament of the year at the Country Club of Louisiana. Helped lead the Ospreys to a third-place finish at that event with rounds of 66-70-72, winning the event by three strokes. His win was the first for an Osprey golfer since 2001. Carded a sixth-place finish at the Windon Memorial with rounds of 71-71-72. Sandwiched his win by finishing tied for 27th in both the Old Memorial/Gary Koch Invitational and the Gator Invitational.
Amateur: Finished tied for 19th at the 2003 Florida State Amateur. Won the 2003 Jacksonville Area Golf Association Hillyer Amateur with a four-round total of 213 (2-under par).
High School: 2003 graduate of Bartram Trail High School. Was an All-County, All-District and All-Region selection in high school as well as the county and district regional champion. Set the Bartram High School record for most wins, as well as most rounds under par and best all-time stroke average.
Juniors: Won the 2003 FCWT National Championship, finishing 10-under (69-65=134) at Doral. Captured medalist honors at the 2003 FCWT Eastern Regional and was named the FCWT Player of the Year in 2003. Finished third at the Morgan Run AJGA in San Diego with a three-round total of 208.
Personal: Major is undecided. Born Dec. 28, 1984, in Tampa. Hometown is Jacksonville. Son of Gail and Mike Young. Enjoys going to the beach in his spare time. Future ambition is to play golf on the PGA Tour.
